My Opinion on Genesis

In my opinion, the influence of Genesis on modern music is undeniable. Either you love them or hate them, but you always know them. Their music is still heard on many different radio stations all around the world, and influences the younger generation. Their music has influenced a number of modern bands such as Dream Theater and Kansas.

Modern music is in gratitude for the things that Genesis has done. They incorporated so many new things into music that bands do all the time now. Elaborate light shows that wow the audience, lyrics that make the listener think, instrumentation that is very complex, and a style that is not based on the bands personal life. Something that I quite enjoy in Genesis’s music is their use of keyboards and synthesizers. They were one of the first bands to incorporate this element heavily into their music. This has influenced many recent bands, who now have electronic influences in their music.

There are a few reasons why I enjoy Genesis. Their music is original, complex and meaningful, which is rare to find in an age that focuses mainly on being generic rather than thinking outside the box. Also, as stated before, we don’t know much about their personal lives. Although they have been claimed to be a boring live show, I think the contrary. Any musician knows that the more complex the music is, the less movement you can do on stage. When watching them, the real treat is the sound. Besides, to make up for the ‘lack of excitement’, there is complex light shows.

With a sound that will never get old, Genesis will forever live in the hearts of many people, including my own. Although I can’t claim them to be one of my favorite bands, they do have a special place to me. Their unique sound and style influences the type of music I listen to, and the type of music I create.
